Fourth grade students in Mrs. Reader's class were put into small groups. Each small group was responsible for learning about a different simple machine. Each group used iPads to take photographs of simple machines around our school building. These photos were used to create instructional iMovies for the rest of the class.
This project went over our spring break, so some students even took pictures of simple machines in England and Hawaii!
This unit begins in early March this year. To have the students use more higher-order thinking skills, we are adding a component to the project. This year, students will still be using various resources to learn about their assigned simple machine. Students will still be working in small groups to create iMovies on their iPads to use to instruct and teach their classmates about their assigned simple machine. However, this year students will also be working in small groups to CREATE their own simple machine. This will be incorporated into their iMovie, lesson, and presentation. If examples of this part of the finished project are necessary, we can supply those to you by mid-April.
